Tinetti Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment

Overview and Statistics

 

Purpose: Task-oriented outcome measure that assesses gait and balance ability; is composed of a 9-item gait portion (POMA-G) and 7-item balance portion (POMA-B)

Diagnoses Assessed:

  • Strokes
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Geriatrics
  • Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Disease-Specific Statistical Breakdown:

Strokes:

  • Cut-off score: <20
  • Test-retest reliability=.91 (POMA-G)

Parkinson's Disease:

  • Cut-off score: <20
  • Intra-rater reliability=.95
  • Inter-rater reliability=.84

Geriatrics:

  • MDC=4.2
  • Cut-off score: 21
  • Test-retest reliability=.72-.86 for POMA-G and POMA-B

ALS:

  • Intra-rater reliability=adequate to excellent
